“My husband, Kyle, and I live in Atlanta with our two daughters, 20 months and seven years. I had low expectations and really thought I would try just losing about ten or 20 pounds at the most. I was exercising, but wasn’t eating right and couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t losing weight. I am in sales and I travel, so it is something I can do on the road and at home as long as I plan ahead. I exercise two times a week with a personal trainer, 45-minute sessions. Personally, I need the accountability. If she isn’t there telling me what to do, I would not exercise. I also make sure to do some walking on the weekends with the kid. Life is completely different today. I lost 54 pounds and Kyle lost 62 pounds. I enjoy being active and it really helps with spending time with my daughters. I love having the strength and energy to keep up with both a toddler and a seven-year-old … We go golfing, rock climbing, ice skating, bike riding, and walking together. So we are now a completely active family and there is no excuse for not trying anything new. My husband and I are healthier than we have ever been in the 18 years we have been together. "When I joined Colony Square, I was starting my workout routine from scratch after a five month break. In order to accelerate the process of getting back into shape, I signed up for twice a week personal training with Leon. Leon took the time to get to know about me and tailor a program according to my needs and goals. We began be assessing my fitness level and discussing some physical limitations I have because of back surgery. We discussed nutrition and how I should be working out on days I wasn’t meeting with him. Over the next few months, my cardio levels were improving and I was beginning to see results so I increased my sessions to three times per week. Leon keeps my workouts fresh and challenges me every time we meet. He has even prepared workouts for me to use when I’m on work travel – accounting for whether the hotel will have a gym or not. "I’ve been an athlete for all of my life. I have played just about every team sport involving a ball and even trained for two full marathons. As a result of marathon training, I was fighting a losing battle of muscle mass. When I moved to Atlanta in 2010 at the age of 25, I made a decision to transform my distance running physique to a healthier, sustainable, and muscular build. At 6’4”, I began my journey at CSAC weighing in at 165 pounds with 7 percent body fat. What I did not know was that strength training was going to transform my diet, my wardrobe, and even my mental health. After six months of trying to “do it on my own”. Japeth Harrison noticed my determination for reaching my goals in the gym. He assessed my current physical abilities, nutrition, and my short and long term goals. He helped me develop small, incremental goals to reach my desired end goal. He truly listened to me. As a professional counselor, I work with a wide range of clients, from eating disorders, athletes, anxiety, and leadership development; so I am used to helping people reach their goals both mentally and physically. Japeth was able to help me utilize the strengths I already had, from my professional work and my athletic background, and helped me apply them to our personal training sessions. Over 12 months, Japeth helped me gain 45 pounds of muscle. He and I still train together once a month to help me get through my least favorite muscle groups and further define my fitness and nutritional goals. "For a person who was always iffy about working out in front of others I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed every single one of my visits at CSAC. No hassle, no harassment, just hard working trainers and trainees. Very professional environment so always prepare to kick ass! I have nothing bad to say about this athletic club at all. It's super convenient and can fit into anyone's schedule. There is little traffic during lunch hours but right after 1-2pm it's back to a slow-flow of traffic, perfect for us get-in-get-out trainers."

"I joined CSAC and signed up for personal training exactly one week ago today, and I am LOVING it. I just graduated from college at the beginning of May, and I am looking to turn my poor exercise habits around after four years of late-night snacking, poor sleep schedules, and test/presentation anxiety. I have had 3 PT sessions with Erika and they have all been great so far - waking up at 5:00 AM and hitting the gym is the best start to my day! Erika is very encouraging and helpful both during our session and outside the gym. She has sent me a helpful meal plan and a link to a website consisting of diets based on your blood type - I didn’t even know there was such a thing. She also texted me the night before a session to make sure I ate something in the morning, as I usually do not eat right before working out because I got sick during the Peachtree Road Race one year. I didn’t come to the gym struggling with a weight problem, but I have told Erika that I used to be an athlete and cheerleader and after seeing pictures of friends who are Falcons Cheerleaders, my jealousy crept up again. I always said, “DAMN I wish my abs/butt/arms/body looked like that!” I guess I finally decided to do something about it, and the fact that Erika is around my age is encouraging to me because she’s a beast and I can be one too!
