PILATES
Pilates has the stretching benefits of a yoga class and the strengthening of a
gym routine. This type of exercise is beneficial to your mind and body, leaving
you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and with a greater sense of well being when
you're done. Pilates is a safe, no-impact way to get exercise, build strength,
and stretch all of Pilates was developed over 70
years ago by a physical trainer named Joeseph H. Pilates. Mr. Pilates firmly
believed that he was 50 years ahead of his time with his theory of “Contrology,”
a gentle and low-stress form of whole body exercise. He quotes, “Contrology
is a complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit. It develops the body
uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates
the mind and elevates the spirit.” Even today, with some changes to the
original method, these basic principles incorporated in the Pilates based
methods still prove true. More and more people are realizing the benefits of
exercise that he developed for the whole body, creating a rapid increase and
demand for Pilates Mat and Reformer classes.
